Welcome to the Shadows House!
The Shadows House is a huge mountainside manor. In which Shadows live as nobles, and Living Dolls are forced to serve them. Shadows are pitch black in appearance and emit a thick soot that dirties everything around them. Therefore, Living Dolls, dolls that are made to perfectly resemble humans and their Shadow Master, serve as their faces. They are meant to copy every expression, and are only deemed as a vessel for the Shadows. The Living Dolls also serve as maids for their Shadow, as well the entire manor. Living Dolls can also take on other various jobs such as: chefs, medics, and bodyguards. The Living Dolls eventually are made to take a test called The Debut, in which they will be evaluated on how well they can work as a Shadows face, and be of service to the Shadows House. Anyone who isn't helpful to the Shadows House is discarded.
So, will you be a Living Doll forced to work for the Shadows? Perhaps you'll grow into your own person, and want to stand up against the Shadows and cause change, or maybe you will serve the Shadows House with upmost loyalty. In which case you can grow up to be a Senior Face, leading a squad of younger Living Dolls, or a Star Bearer, who controls parts of the entire Children's Wing along with your Shadow Master. Maybe this won't be you, and you'll be a Shadow working under Lord Grandfather. You might come to realize that this hierarchy is wrong, and decide to work undercover to take down the very structure that houses you. Or you could be hungry for power, and want to work your way up through the ranks to Grandfather's Wing, then up the 3 floors until eventually, and only then, you can serve right by Lord Grandfather's side. You could even play out both of these stories simultaneously. The choice is yours to make.

Once upon a time, humanity used to be the dominant species.
Once upon a time, they had great and expansive kingdoms and palaces. They bent the world to their will, they flourished, they multiplied. They seemed like they would be on top of the world and would stay there, inventing more and doing more and devouring more until they were like gods upon the natural world.
Once upon a time.
That was, until the Beasts began to emerge, and everything crumbled.
It didn’t start off too badly, at first. First, they were folk-lore, fairy tales. People whispered of monsters under their beds and wolves that took the shape of men, but it was all stories. Then more of those stories began to spread, with more, increasingly sensible townsfolk, guards, and nobility telling word of strange creatures that stalked the dark.
By the time humanity realized the truth of the Beasts, the beginning of the end had already started. They came in waves, accompanied by periods of great disaster. Each event was worse than the last, and mankind was ill-prepared to face a threat such as they. While humanity eventually learned how to combat them through light and magics, the course of history had already been irreperably changed from what we know of it now.

Permit me a few words on Eidolon, an isle adrift in fog and partly forgotten by England herself. Its people bear the memory of the Great Fever like a bruise beneath the skin—never spoken of directly, yet present in every shuttered window and charm left hanging to weather.
The air is thick with quiet things. Paths taper into white haze without warning. Footfalls echo strangely. And in certain districts, it is said the fog shifts—as though responding to one’s presence.
Stories persist: lamps blinking in coded warnings through the Lantern Ward;
a shape too tall and too still among the trees of Tolliver’s Rest;
voices lost upon Cloudcroft’s cliffs; lights wandering the sea-line like pale lanterns in the dark.
Few will swear to these tales. Fewer will deny them.
Whatever stirs here does so softly—but with purpose.
