A thousand years ago, the Heian Era was a bloodbath. To halt the slaughter, Master Tengen fused the reality warping "Keystone" into her soul, establishing the Master Barrier that localized cursed energy inside Japan. Through the Gensei Council, our clan has managed jujutsu society, funded the Tokyo and Kyoto Academies, and kept the Big Three (Gojo, Zenin, Kamo) acting as our military muscle while we hold the true wealth and political power. Intelligence reports suggest a millennium-old binding vow is reaching fruition. The Mastermind intends to assassinate Lady Tengen. If she dies, the Keystone manifests, the Master Barrier drops, and The Calamity will be resurrected.

This server is similar to canon, but Sukuna, Tengen, and Kenjaku are the only ones from the old times. All other characters are RPer OCs. This world is shaped by your actions, not a retelling of the exact story.


For hundreds to thousands of years, curses have wreaked havoc on human life. In retaliation humans learned to use the curses energy against them and make unique abilities. Anyone who uses Cursed energy in the war against Cursed Spirits is deemed a Sorcerer, however not all sorcerers are on the good side of the battle.

Over a thousand years ago, during the height of jujutsu, a man was born wrong. With a technique and body built to work perfectly together, he ruled the era known now as the Heian Era.

The Heian era also had two other sorcerers of importance, Tengen and Kenjaku. Two immortals who tamper with jujutsu in their own ways. Kenjaku with his Experiments and tests, and Tengen with their barriers which keep Cursed energy more accessible to all.

These Three sorcerers live on in the shadows as the only remnant of a perfected time. Now it is the Modern day, techniques have weakened, sorcerers aren’t common to come by, and because of the birth of one single sorcerer, curses have grown in strength.

Earthly Matters is a Jujutsu Kaisen Roleplay server that emphasizes roleplayer freedom (I know every RP server says this, trust me on this one) without being Laissez-faire. The setting and world are fundamentally similar to canon with a few key differences to serve as spice. The political aspects of Jujutsu Society are prominently featured, and carefully designed systems encourage roleplayers to play into them.

Anything interesting about that to you? Alright, here's some more tantalizing details:
• OC only, but canon techniques are allowed.
• Pragmatic channel design, no hard to read fonts.
• Set in 2008, should be familiar.
• Traits: mostly free for anyone to use, none of which are objective upgrades. You won't get locked out of a character concept you love because you weren't early to join.
• Full support for custom clans and user-made factions of curse users or spirits alike.
• A system for running events between your ocs on your own.
• A stat system that's straightforward, unobtrusive, and can be simply ignored during character creation for those who don't want to engage with it.
• A "simple" territorial control system that allows factions to duke it out on their own terms.

The lore is scattershot, by my own admission. Meant to facilitate role-player tension and interaction more than guide a plot. Here's a TLDR, but each point is elaborated upon in the server proper.
• Tengen is dead, has been for about 20 years.
• Kyoto school has had its budget slashed to support the construction of a new school.
• The Zenin and the Gojo are locked in a blood feud after the “Boar-Face Incident.”
• The Kamo is performing clandestine experiments to create Cursed Wombs in the same vein as the Death Paintings.

It is also the location of the 'High Council' or 'Higher-ups' who represent Japan's Jujutsu Sorcerers on the global stage and regulate sorcery.

✧ Operating outside of Jujutsu Society, there are a plentiful amount of curse users (unregistered or rogue sorcerers) as well as cursed spirits. They pose a danger to modern and Jujutsu societies across the world. Some work together in groups whilst others work alone.

『Loosely inspired by unfulfilled JJK theories, SCP, and Project Moon』

The “Merging Event” of 1854, a great catastrophe within Japan’s sorcerer society, caused by the death of the most powerful barrier user, Uzui Inoue. "CE Osmosis” fully came into play, with cursed energy once contained spilling out from Japan. Throughout the years, sorcerers and curses boomed in number worldwide, leading to establishment of formal sorcery across many nations. Governments are now dealing with curses and curse users, sending their sorcerers to Japan; the hub of Jujutsu and the source of this curse. Here, they shall further train and hone their skills.

With the spread of the "Malediction" phenomenon across Japan and the rise of curses, there is clearly something ominous brewing. Join one of the 6 Major Clans, the National Sorcerer Agency, or many other factions to either save Jujutsu society or destroy it.

June 9th 1961, the Plasma cult is attacked at the start of the ritual of Tengen’s new vessel.

The plasma knights are deployed to combat the threat.

The knights win the battle, although Tengen is murdered , their vessel to be disappears.

In Tengen’s death, the barriers fall and a wave of cursed energy curses the earth, now meaning sorcerers and curses have gone global.

╰┈➤ June 9th, 1961; During the ritual for Tengen’s new vessel, the Plasma Cult was attacked. The Plasma Knights successfully oprehending the attackers, but lost the life of Tengen while the vessel disappeared.

With Tengen’s death, Japan’s barriers collapsed, unleashing cursed energy across the globe and causing curses and Curse Users to emerge worldwide. As nations struggled to adapt, the great clans expanded their influence through private sorcerer contracts and public outreach. The truth of Tengen’s death was concealed by the higher-ups, known only to those present that day.

Thirty years later, the world is still adjusting to a new age where curses and sorcery have become a global reality.
