Historically, Emmanuel represents God’s commitment to dwell with us, as demonstrated in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who bridged the gap between humanity and divinity.

In the Old Testament, God’s presence was often symbolized through the Ark of the Covenant and the Temple. However, the New Testament reveals a more intimate relationship, as God chooses to be with us in a more personal way through Jesus Christ.
