If your parent committed unspeakable acts, you, too, were looked down upon. People feared a repeat of the terrible. If you came from nobility, it would be wise to preserve your status. A world where the line between fact and fiction blurs. The tales we all know and love enacted as fate's path. Many have tried to change their path, to the detriment of the world. Magic is as dangerous as it is useful, and misuse leads to the wearing down of the fabric of reality. It soaks into the Earth, causing pollution, death, suffering.

In order to combat this crisis, world leaders met to negotiate a solution. The kingdom of Calaren offered to establish a research facility dedicated to the study of magic, the problems it has caused, and potential solutions. Thus, St. Michael's Institute was established. However, with a rise in untamed magic compromising the institute's solutions, an extension to the laboratory was proposed. A university hosting the children of those responsible for the magical crisis, the perfect mix of observation and education.

Future kings and queens, wannabe tyrants, everything in between. A chaotic mix seeming tame in a world crumbling beneath unknown forces. A mad dance, a carnival of disarray.
