The Realms of Tamriel is a written roleplaying Discord for the Elder Scrolls.
We are currently initiating a reboot of the server, and as part of this certain elements of the server have been restructured. This reboot has been launched as of late May 2026.
As a steady roleplaying community with strong foundations, The Realms of Tamriel has been running strong since July 2016. We're an active server set during the Great War of the Fourth Era, approximately 30 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
With a heavy focus on interesting characters with decent development, lengthy story-lines and an overarching plot that spans the entirety of the Great War and beyond - the roleplay has a very strong base from which to grow. We place a strong focus on realism within fantasy, and adhere closely to the established lore whilst expanding into new territory with fresh ideas that remain within reasonable bounds and are not nonsensical.
The Realms of Tamriel roleplay promotes freedom of agency across an ever growing setting within Tamriel, and allows characters total reinless exploration of the provinces to pursue their own goals and desires - whilst providing ample opportunity through the guise of 'events' to help direct and structure the main plot of the roleplay, and to introduce roleplayers to isolated 'quest-like' stories to give motivation for intriguing social roleplaying.
There is an expected level of quality from a writing perspective, but don't be put off by it. The server is very welcoming, and we offer advice and constructive criticism for budding roleplayers from some of our more veteran roleplayers and even professional writers. We aren't particularly restrictive on who can join, so long as they're willing to be open to working on the quality of writing - among our current members there are greatly varying levels of skill, so don't worry about feeling out of place.

With the Ruby Throne vacant the administration of the Empire has fallen onto the Elder Council. Anarchy and lawlessness have overtaken the realm, Cyrodiil lies on the brink of civil war and the unity of the Empire dances on a knife's edge. The Stormcrown Interregnum has begun and the fate of Tamriel lies in the factions fighting for the Ruby Throne.
Join one of the many factions fighting for the throne, or the growing independence movements in Skyrim, Morrowind or the Summerset Isles and free your homeland from Imperial Rule.
Or join one of the many Guilds across Tamriel. Earn your way to fame and fortune through the Fighter's Guild, Master the arcane arts in the Mages Guild, pull off legendary heists with the Thieves Guild or murder Kings for the Dark Brotherhood.
Of course you can always go it alone and carve out your own name in the world, all of Tamriel is free to explore and is awaiting you!

World-Eater is gone, but the world feels worse— like something important slipped
loose when the prophecy snapped shut. The Civil War drags on past the point of glory into pure attrition: forts held by exhausted soldiers, towns ruled by the threat of shortages and fear, and holds that increasingly act like independent states, choosing loyalties only when it keeps their people alive. No side has the strength to decisively finish the fight, so the province bleeds slowly into exhaustion. The Thalmor take advantage of that exhaustion. They are present, armed, and dangerous, hunting dissidents while tightening legal pressure wherever it will hold.
Over all of it hangs a spiritual emptiness that people argue about in whispers: the Divines feel distant, shrines feel cold, and prayers go unanswered often enough that faith becomes either brittle or furious. The gods are silent - yet the Daedra remain active, delighted to bargain, torment, and “gift” power to anyone desperate enough to accept. In a province starving for certainty, the wrong voices are the ones that still respond.”
