*Challenger: The Gateaway* is a 16-Player SMP server for Season 1, being an unscripted roleplay server inspired by shows like Total Drama, Survivor, and Disventure Camp. You play as a persona of yourself, and are on a reality gameshow with 15 other participants for the chance to win $1,000,000 dollars! In every session, you are tasked with bonding with your team, making connections, and creating rivalries and alliances before you participate in a challenge. Whichever team loses must discuss eliminating one person that night, with backstabbing, lies, and drama at every turn!

However, you won't be able to rely on your team forever. There is a **Merge** phase of the game, where teams are broken up, and each player must play individually within challenges, with whoever wins earning individual immunity.

Whether you choose to play a great social game, prove yourself as a powerhouse within challenges, lay low, or manipulate and control the majority while flipping and betraying allies, it is all up to how you choose to approach this game to win.

The setting takes place around a university, and most characters will play the roles around students. ‘The Cataclysm’, that is what the Scripture calls the event that wiped out the people of the previous era.

The world of the past was filled with gods and laws that formed complex systems, however, they were wiped off the face of this earth by an inexplicable force. The lands were ravaged, oceans evaporated. Any trace of humanity was completely annihilated.

The Scripture of Luminance was formed as a beacon of hope, a set of virtues for the people to obey, in hopes that no such apocalypse would befall the new era of man. These virtuous principles are: Praxis, Admonition, Prosperity and Temperance.
Followers of the Scripture believe that, through these values, mortal life will redeem themselves against the heavens.

To fortify itself, society established four bodies, which would oversee the virtues, ensuring they are upheld, valued and practised by the people, however, over time, that intent has been lost, leading to a divide between religious nobles and the common folk.

Rumours and concerns are spreading regarding the potential of a ‘second coming’ of the cataclysm. Leadership must act to subdue the people, expose the truth and prevent what could be the end of man as we know it..

Our server encourages complex dynamics, scheming and betrayal amongst characters. Our world features a fully custom map created by our own server build team, with room for new player-led towns to spearhead the laws and justice systems within our society. City-states may engage in conflict and alliances, providing opportunities for individual and collective character growth.
