His wife had borne him twins forty-two years before-- men who had long since drifted into rivalry regarding the succession of the Iron Throne. Naturally, ambition and contempt festers, all while Prince Maekar resides on Dragonstone, unable to do anything against the rot now buried within the second generation as well.
𝒾𝒾 — 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗙𝗟𝗘𝗪 𝗧𝗢 𝗪𝗔𝗥, 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗘𝗗; the smallfolk are able to recall it all too well. Though while such bloodshed seems far from the horizon, the observant realize the seeds of war have been festering for years-- now coming to fruition in an increasing pace as the final obstacle is on the verge of leaving his mortal coil. The true heir is indisputable, but truth is only a means to an end for those ambitious enough to seize and destroy.

Over two hundred and fifty years after Aegon’s conquest, King Aegon VI Targaryen sits the Iron Throne as the 16th Targaryen king. But his abrupt end at the hands of King Daemon IV Blackfyre puts the realm in jeopardy. His heir, a boy of just two-and-ten years inherits the mantle of king, but there are big shoes he has to fill. His uncle, Prince Baelor, is more than happy to aid the young king, but he too often seems to eclipse his nephew’s authority. Kingmaker, they call him. And kingmaker he is.
Ten years have passed since the king’s ascension to the throne. While peace has been maintained in the greater picture, small conflicts erupt constantly across Westeros. The discontentment of the high lords with their Targaryen rulers has only opened up a path for the ambitious Blackfyre claimant across the Narrow Sea. The legacy of the Black Dragon still lives on, but this time, they mean to launch a flawless campaign, with fire and blood.

— King Baelor II "Breakspear" inherited a diseased realm, hardened by famine and hardship. The opening years of his reign was marked by uncertainty, yet, through his own abilities and the counsel of his brother Prince Maekar and his uncle Lord Bloodraven, King Baelor guided the realm into an era of peace. To many, he has proven himself to have the shapings of one of the greatest monarchs Westeros has ever known.
— But not all are convinced. Whispers persist that Baelor's ties to Dorne has given the Dornish undue influence at court. Resentment has festered across the nobility and some of the smallfolk. Some question whether the Iron Throne serves the interests of Westeros, or those of Dorne.
— For years, Daemon Blackfyre had remained loyal, and no rebellion came in 196 AC. Over the years, he and Bittersteel have grown their power, and with old grievances left unresolved, Daemon will at last declare his claim. The short-lived peace of Baelor's reign hangs by a thread. The realm is divided between uncle and nephew, bastard and trueborn, forced to choose between the Red Dragon and the Black.

The Crown is Weak.
The year is 268 AC, and King Aelorr the Irascible sits the Iron Throne. Plagued by paranoia and visions, the Seven Kingdoms are ruled in all but name by the Lord Hand and the Small Council, made from the ranks of honorable men, wealthy lords, and adept schemers.
When the King commanded that his son, the much loved Prince Rhaenor, be executed for treason, the peace that reigned since the end of the War of the Ninepenny Kings waned considerably. All across the realm, anger and ambition have fermented. Lords now openly resist their masters, and the whole of Westeros threatens to tumble into chaos. Many Lords speak of a brighter future, where they may govern themselves as they did in the days before the Conqueror. There is just one small issue:
Winter is Coming.
The enemies of the crown sit beleaguered, tired from war, failed rebellions, famine, or internal conflicts. Only the Crown and its allies seem fully prepared to weather the storm of a years long freeze. As the season changes and the King’s condition worsens, there is no more room for heroes and dragons. This is an age of corpses and cold. This is an age of Crows and Vultures.

Then the cold stayed through spring, and nobody was dismissing anything anymore.
Crops failed. Keeps went dark. Things moved south of the Wall that wore the shapes of men but breathed no warmth into the air. The smallfolk called it what the old songs always had. The maesters swallowed their pride and called it the Great Darkness, and left it at that.
Three dragons ended it. Three riders drove it back village by village, coastline by coastline, until it retreated to the edges of the world past the grey water where no ships return from. That was several generations ago.
The riders are statues now. The realm survived, but the map was redrawn in the chaos. Old houses fell. New ones rose into seats that weren't always theirs. The wounds were plastered over, declared healed, and quietly left to fester.
King Jaehaerys III builds roads and fills granaries and calls it peace.

This server is set just after the doom of Valyria, in an era known as 'The Century of Blood.' It is an OC only server, including the dragons. The only canon character that will be mentioned is Aenar the exile.
This server will be primarily a character driven story. It will not lack for action and conflict, however, it will for the most part primarily be player vs npc at least during our first few events. As the server grows we may expand to more player vs player should the story turn in that direction.

Westeros has, for the last century, seen the hand of the Tyrells on the Throne. A chain reaction started with the rise of the Baratheon Dynasty in Westeros. In 299 AC, after the beginning of the Baratheon Dynastic Struggle between the Baratheons of King's Landing and the Baratheons of the Narrow Sea, a disruption would flip Westeros on her head. A mistake made by the Queen Dowager Cersei Lannister would see the destruction of both houses, alongside the old Capital of King's Landing and the House of Lannister . A later arrival by the Tyrells would see no king left standing. Thus, the Council of 300 AC would be planned at the Castle of Rosby. Therein, the Lords present would choose to elect Mace Tyrell as the new King of Westeros
In 400, the King is ailing, with four daughters and No sons. By the laws of Viserys II, the crown would pass to the eldest Tyrell Cadet, however, Renly, seeking to amend the law, chose in the Edict of 390 to restore Andalic sucession to the Throne, allowing Daughters to come before sons. Westeros, however, grows more concerned by the day. With marriages to Lord Paramounts, Scheming Second sons, and a Royal Bastard beginning to hold sway, Westeros now is positioned for a new wave of Dynastic Warfare in the outlook of the End of Summer.

At the turn of a century in the year of 450AC, the realms of Westeros had known a monarchless rule for half a century. Since the fateful war of the Starscourge Conflict in the year 400 AC against Lord Hugor & his Warrior’s Sons – the Seven Kingdoms have yet to raise a worthy monarch to the Iron Throne.
For decades now the various Realms under the Elector Council have turned inwards towards their own lands, doing their best to recover. Since that time the dragons have dwindled, the name Blackfyre who conquered Westeros in the year 300 AC has joined the Targaryens into the annals of history, with what now remains of their legacy larger than any living King of their line.
The humble song, the “Heir to the Black Dragon” has been molded into legend, for in the year 410 AC the Sword of Kings; Blackfyre was discovered on the Isle of Faces, guarded by the last living known dragon Viserion the Beast Regent.
The Sixth convene of the Elector Council has failed to divine a monarch, claimants & others now look to fill the void that has been festering. Far in the North a Wildling King raising his warband, while the Faith Militant once again move to claim the throne. All the while nobles from across the Realm begin to muster their armies & prepare for war that looms on the horizon for their claimant. The Seven Kingdom will be tested in fire, forged anew in the coming wars for the throne.

At the turn of a century in the year of 450AC, the realms of Westeros had known a monarchless rule for half a century. Since the fateful war of the Starscourge Conflict in the year 400 AC against Lord Hugor & his Warrior’s Sons – the Seven Kingdoms have yet to raise a worthy monarch to the Iron Throne.
For decades now the various Realms under the Elector Council have turned inwards towards their own lands, doing their best to recover. Since that time the dragons have dwindled, the name Blackfyre who conquered Westeros in the year 300 AC has joined the Targaryens into the annals of history, with what now remains of their legacy larger than any living King of their line.
The humble song, the “Heir to the Black Dragon” has been molded into legend, for in the year 410 AC the Sword of Kings; Blackfyre was discovered on the Isle of Faces, guarded by the last living known dragon Viserion the Beast Regent.
The Sixth convene of the Elector Council has failed to divine a monarch, claimants & others now look to fill the void that has been festering. Far in the North a Wildling King raising his warband, while the Faith Militant once again move to claim the throne. All the while nobles from across the Realm begin to muster their armies & prepare for war that looms on the horizon for their claimant. The Seven Kingdom will be tested in fire, forged anew in the coming wars for the throne.
