Some people call them ghouls, others just keep it simple and name them monsters, solitaire creatures of a variety living in the shadows of the city in hope for either a normal life or to cause chaos within the comfounds of humans, things they all have in common is the marks covering their skins from where they all share the ability to switch their form to one closer ressembling that have a person or even posessing more power, with most craving the taste of blood, and of course suffering under heat, the sun being the biggest threat to all.
It's a wonder how these people of the night were yet to fall extinct during the times people were burned to the stake for being witches, the biggest theory of that case was their abilities to blend into crowds and their powers, giving them the best chances of survival.

The CCG maintains a tight grip on Japan, hunting things that most people consider to be beyond their care. College student Kaneki Ken and his friend Hideyoshi Nagachika are drinking coffee and taking classes.

Across the sea, in America, the Bureau of Apex Sanitation maintains a tight balance with The Ghoul Union in overseeing Ghoul activity in the states. Ghouls live and work as second class citizens.

The State of Louisiana is a hotbed of activity, as various human organizations clash with Ghoul ones in a mess of personal freedoms.
