Like all ethnic/cultural groups the lines can get a bit fuzzy, so Deseret as defined here is people who are part of the culture surrounding the LDS in primarily Utah, but also the diaspora. This largely refers to people who are of "Pioneer Stock" descent, and not just people who are practicing members of the LDS or its offshoots.
