Set in a small college town in Northern California, Silver Creek is a town where nothing of note really ever happens. For most of the year, it’s quiet, foggy beaches, and peaceful neighborhoods with the same familiar faces everywhere you go. That is until the death of Holly Keane.

The new semester at Silver Creek University had only been underway for around a month when Holly Keane was murdered on September 19th, on a walk home from a late night at the library. Holly was extremely well-liked, popular in an effortless way, the kind of girl no one could have imagined something horrible happening to. Her body was found in the middle of campus just before sunrise, left beneath red-and-white homecoming decorations for everyone to see. Now it's September 27th, and the entire town feels off. Students don’t walk alone anymore and rumors are spreading faster than facts. Campus security is on patrol constantly, and every conversation somehow circles back to Holly. Who killed her? Why? Will it happen again?

OakMeadow is a small, quiet town nestled low between two ridges, where the air feels oddly heavy and settled. Streets and sidewalks don’t run quite straight, buildings lean gently into one another, and at dusk the whole place glows with an unexpectedly warm, soft light from shop windows and streetlamps. Residents give vague answers about it—“It’s fine,” “It’s home”—and shrug, as if there’s something unspoken they all quietly accept.
Beneath the surface, subtle oddities persist: unreliable tap water (especially at night), recurring pest cycles, basements that stay too cool, dogs avoiding corners, and faint earthy smells or underground water sounds in certain spots—like an old creek that was paved over long ago, now just an ordinary parking lot. Nights are eerily silent, footsteps echo too loudly, and drains gurgle after rain as if something moves deep below. Yet no one calls it haunted or dangerous; it feels patiently watched over by something old and tired. People stay kind, check on neighbors, share resources during inconveniences, and keep the town holding together without complaint. No one talks about leaving, and no one quite explains why they remain.
