In the late 1970s, rumors of satanic cults infiltrating everyday life began to spread rapidly across America and Europe. Unlike in our timeline, where the Satanic Panic eventually fizzled out into niche obscurity in the post-Y2K world, Maniac Panic presents an alternate timeline that spirals into even greater chaos and sinister forces. By the mid-1980s, civil unrest and religious dogmatism were escalating rapidly, triggered by the exposure of a massive government conspiracy. In response, a coalition of religious movements, conspiracy theorists, and vigilantes seize political power, reshaping the very fabric of North America.
