Unlike in our timeline, where the Satanic Panic eventually fizzled out into niche obscurity in the post-Y2K world, Maniac Panic presents an alternate timeline that spirals into even greater chaos and sinister forces. By the mid-1980s, civil unrest and religious dogmatism were escalating rapidly, triggered by the exposure of a massive government conspiracy. In response, a coalition of religious movements, conspiracy theorists, and vigilantes seize political power, reshaping the very fabric of North America.
