Kishi no Kara

Welcome to Kishi no Kara (騎士の殻)! We hope to offer a gripping mecha roleplay focused around an alternate Earth embroiled in proxy wars globally between rising private armies, shifting spheres of influence, and international conspiracies. Take the role of a rookie pilot employed by a plucky upstart mercenary corporation, fighting for employers both licit and il.

◈{⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯【What We Offer】⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯}◈

KnK offers a retro-futuristic interpretation of mecha combat with an emphasis on realism, based on Yutaka Izubuchi’s combat Labors featured in the franchise Patlabor. Furthermore, a narratively guided combat system that facilitates high-stakes drama both inside and out the cockpit ensures no mission is the same and that the roleplay never bores.

《Campaign & Story》

What KnK brings to the forefront is a dynamic campaign where players hold the capability to plan, direct and conduct operations globally to make a real difference in a constantly changing story. Change the course of a civil war by proving to be one of its most effective assets, or see a nation’s power crumble by failing to protect its leaders in close protection.

Players have the opportunity to meet and defeat not just nameless enemies, but persistent foes and units with goals and mission sets that remain strategically sound, forcing players to make the right decisions at the right time to save the future—and their paycheck. The decisions made—whether or not to engage, choosing sides, et cetera all play into the broader storyline, and each second counts in KnK’s fierce world.

See the world through the edge of the future as it was in a dystopian 1998, where the United States’ uncontested unipolarity never manifested and its grip on the Atlantic and Pacific begins to slip from its grasp, seeing nations like Japan, Poland, and Germany all fall into neutrality or isolationism. The constant wars fought between the nations of KnK’s multipolar hell have led to a boom in technological development, bringing to the forefront of warfare both private militaries and walking combat vehicles armed with the latest in weapons technology.

《Progression》

Begin as just another contractor with RHLS, a small firm that produces bipedal combat vehicles based in Switzerland, and grow into your own legend on the battlefield with smart choices and expert fighting. Players have at their fingertips a complicated economy and progression system to personalize their bipedal fighting vehicles and truly make a permanent mark.

Player decisions matter! The actions of each contractor are meticulously recorded to paint a comprehensive scene of relationships with their employers, meaning that being too conspicuous can make some mark you as a target, or forge new deals and alliances with others.

A rewarding experience, provided you can think critically

I'll preface this upfront: if you're interested in this server for a casual RP experience, then this might not be the place you're looking for.

A large part of the server's day-to-day function with RP is in the contracts that players can take, which vary in difficulty and expected opposition. You /will/ have to fight at some point; otherwise, there is little enjoyment to be found here. And while the staff team has accepted characters who act more as support personnel than as actual combatants, the server's systems were not designed for them, and you will very likely find little to contribute to the wider world as advertised, and will very quickly become bored and disinterested.

That said, if you are the type of person who IS interested in troop management, equipment management, and general small-unit warfighting, then this is one of the better servers you could come to.

As I said earlier in the title, you will have to use critical thinking skills to determine where to position yourself, how to best utilize any supporting units, and how to approach the overall objectives. People are not coddled here. If you make a stupid decision in the heat of battle, expect the consequences of the actions taken up to that point to come rearing their head very quickly. The mechs we use, called "Bipeds" in this alt-history universe, are NOT tanks, nor are they incredibly maneuverable robots most of us are familiar with in media nowadays. If you play them thinking they're in either category, you will quickly find out that is not the case.

Once you've got an understanding of how the system works, though, and as long as you ask questions, the server becomes a whole lot more enjoyable. The community, while generally small, is incredibly tight-knit, and most people here can take a joke. There's a large number of bipeds to choose from, a faction relation system, and, as advertised, the players /do/ have an incredibly large effect on which involved factions/sides end up coming out victorious or not.
