You receive the invitation when you least expect it. It is a strange thing, to find a letter someplace so random -- your bed, your table, perhaps even your bathroom... still, you open it. Eventually. Because of course you do. And when you straighten out the ivory parchment and read it through, you know your world will never be the same.

You're invited to study at Thistlemark Academy, a magic university situated in its own private dimension. Perhaps you recognize the name, or (a touch more commonly) perhaps this sounds too strange to be true; after all, there's a good chance you live in a dimension where magic isn't considered real at all. But whether the world accepts it or not, you have to. You have powers, real powers, innate and magical, and whether they're dormant or bursting at the seams...
