Short description of the setting:
- The chronicle is closely based on the same name source book. The year is 2002, and the Kuei-jin had invaded the Anarch Free States and established the New Promise Mandarinate. An opportunity for many young Kuei-jin to carve out domains in a foreign land away from the watchful eyes of their Ancestors. But the Camarilla is not surrendering. Some fight with diplomacy, some with sorcery, and some with brute force, but it is evident that they will either push the invaders out or die trying.
- San Francisco was a Camarilla city, but the Kuei-jin have struck fast and hit crucial targets, assassinating two Primogen, and causing many Kindred to flee. The Camarilla sued for peace, having to pay reparations, and to accept Kuei-jin rule. The Camarilla are "second class citizens," forced to stay in specific areas of the city on the threat of destruction. Some Kuei-jin factions believe that Kindred can be "assimilated" while others want to exterminate them.
- While the city is nominally at peace, it is also a powder keg, waiting for a spark to ignite. The Sabbat have infiltrated, the Akuma and other minions of the Yama Kings, and even Hunters, have their sights set on the city. But among all those who know conflict is inevitable there are many who want anything but. The Anarchs who flee conflict seek shelter in San Francisco, as do the Kànbujiàn - Kuei-jin who have risen outside of the Middle Kingdom, and know no Dharma.
- And that is just scratching the surface. Fae, Werewolves, Spirits, Wraiths and many other supernatural forces exist in the area. San Francisco is a melting pot of many different factions, ideologies and powers. There are thousands of stories in San Francisco waiting to be told. Which one of them will include you?
