At its helm is President Madame Ohanaka Silverthorne, now in her ninth year in office, who first rose to prominence as a crisis leader promising order amid famine and unrest. Over time, however, emergency powers meant to be temporary became permanent, elections became ceremonial, and dissent was reframed as sabotage. Through an expansive civil guard presence and the shadowy Directorate, her feared special services task force branch, Ohanaka Silverthorne maintains a suffocating surveillance state that monitors citizens through biometric IDs, predictive algorithms, and ever-present patrols.
The media hails her as the Steward of Renewal, the woman who prevented New Holland from descending into the anarchy that destroyed the old republic. Yet beneath the surface of controlled cities and towering vertical farms, resentment grows.
