On October 16th, 1988, the Justice League announced the death of beloved member Captain Marvel. In the days that followed, memorials and vigils were held across Fawcett City and the United States.
After the events of his death, the world was never the same. The circumstances around the death of Captain Marvel? A mystery. Batman quietly retired from the Justice League, which would later disband as it left the public eye more and more. The world eerie and quiet.
The death of Captain Marvel had created a schism among the League’s members. As a part of the announcement, the President joined Superman at the podium, and announced that the Hall of Justice would be repurposed as the Department of Superhuman Affairs.
17 years later, 2005, the world had moved on. But evil, as we know, never sleeps. Those mysteries unsolved? Not entirely forgotten. New heroes would rise, as would new evils and foes untold.
