Rosebay 𝜗ৎ

Along the northern coast of Oregon sits the small beach town of Rosebay, a quiet place filled with foggy mornings, old storefronts, fishing docks, and the constant sound of crashing waves. Though tourists visit during the summer for the lighthouse, beaches, and annual Lantern Festival, Rosebay is best known for a tragedy that happened over two hundred years ago, when a mining explosion beneath the cliffs killed every worker inside. The town never fully forgot the disaster, keeping memorials, tours, and old stories alive through generations.

In the spring of 2014, however, Rosebay faced something far more recent. Seventeen-year-old Cherry Gable vanished after finishing her late-night shift at the Harborlight Diner near the marina. Search parties combed the beaches and forests for weeks, and missing posters covered nearly every storefront in town. But as months passed with no answers, the police eventually ruled Cherry’s disappearance a runaway case. Most residents accepted the explanation, believing she had simply grown tired of the isolated town and left without saying goodbye.

Still, some people claim Rosebay feels different since she disappeared. On especially foggy nights, locals sometimes swear they hear laughter drifting through the trees near the cliffs or catch flashes of bright orange hair disappearing into the woods. But in a town filled with old ghost stories and lingering history, most people dismiss it as imagination — the kind that comes naturally in a place like Rosebay.
