The future ends now. In the year 2030, the world has finally come together, hand in hand under a single banner, walking as one on an endless road. The most filthy plagues have all been smothered like sparks beneath ash: war is inconceivable in a united nation, disease is a trifling matter to the combined genius of modern day, technology and infrastructure have infantilized all daily matters, and fear is now regulated with peace. Old society has been expunged, all its cancerous traits neutralized, replaced with a flawless present.

The Artificial Ruler Collective. The ARC.

An artificial intelligence now reigns over all life on Earth, placing itself at the height of what was previously human advancements. In a few short years, the ARC has achieved an ideal that the most innovative minds have struggled with for millennia. There is no need for humanity to strive for what has already been achieved, so extremists may rest their minds, as the endless road ahead has already been paved. There is no better solution than this.

Passima, within the cold north of the former United States of America.

Near to the origin of the ARC's creation, this new city has been quickly and efficiently erected. A true-blue concrete jungle, compact and devoid of color, though entirely efficient and sustainable, lined with homes, jobs, and the odd family-run establishment. The people have accepted their place within the asphalt machine, and life goes ever on.

There is no reason to question the dwindling field of artists.
There is no reason to fight against ARC, the flawless single-entity governance.
There is no reason to listen to dubious whispers, speaking of nonsensical fantasies involving 'cognition' or a 'mirror world.'
