Become Legend occurs in the post-apocalyptic setting of the Destiny universe. After humans colonized the Solar System, with the help of an entity known simply as the "Traveler," who had the ability to reshape planets and moons, and taught humanity technologies which led to a time referred to as the Golden Age. An event known as the "Collapse" saw the dissolution of humanity, and left mankind on the brink of extinction. The Traveler hovers above the last remaining human city as a large spherical body, and its presence gives the Guardians of the City, the last defenders of the human race, the ability to wield its Light

Centuries after the collapse, however, forces of Darkness have begun to work against the traveler, and the Guardians are needed, in order to prevent a second apocalypse to rival the Collapse.
