BREAKING NEWS: MIDGAR DECLARED RESTRICTED ZONE — EMW ASSUMES FULL OPERATIONAL CONTROL

EDGE — In a decisive move earlier today, Eidolon Mobile Worker (EMW) Corporation officially announced the full closure of the Midgar ruins to all unauthorized personnel, citing escalating safety concerns and the need for controlled reclamation efforts.

The former megacity, long left in a state of devastation following the Meteorfall crisis and subsequent events, has now been designated a Controlled Hazard and Exclusion Zone. Effective immediately, all entry, salvage, and operational activity within Midgar’s perimeter requires formal authorization through EMW.

WHY NOW?

According to EMW’s Hazard Control Division, recent surveys have confirmed that conditions within Midgar remain “extremely volatile and life-threatening,” with key risks including:

-High concentrations of hostile monsters occupying collapsed sectors and reactor remains.

-Persistent mako contamination, posing severe health risks to unprotected individuals.

-Widespread structural instability, with entire plate sections at risk of sudden collapse.

“Uncoordinated efforts have already cost too many lives,” an EMW spokesperson stated. “This action ensures that reclamation proceeds safely, and that preventable loss of life is minimized.”
