✶ By the 2020’s, humanity had splintered, each relying on what little information they could gather, scavenged food, and the limited history they knew to survive. All the knowledge of the “before” comes from fragments of pre-apocalypse media and the unreliable stories of those who lived before. Many survivors no longer distinguish between scientific fact and superstition — beliefs about the infected vary wildly. What is certain is that every year, the infected grow bolder, their hunting patterns shifting in ways suggesting not mindless instinct, but strategic intent.

✶ Now, the year is 2032, Earth is a graveyard of pure rot and little more. Nature has reclaimed much of the land, but not in the way humans once had hoped for — fungal spires pierce through abandoned skyscrapers, the air in some regions is thick with spores visible to the naked eye. Few dare to dream of a cure, and fewer still believe humanity has a future at all. Survival is no longer about rebuilding — it is about enduring, outlasting the slow march of extinction.
