I've only been in this server for a short time but I love the community that the modstaff have built here. I was more used to tumblr rp, but a friend of mine convinced me that if i wanted to get started with Discord, this server would be the best place for me. It has quickly become one of my favourite rps to look in on.
There are many character concepts, face claims and creative opportunities open. The staff and community welcome diversity with open arms. A lot of fantasy spaces i've seen online [and other servers from looking around] can have a lot of negative dampenings on creativity. the velaryons are poc here, which is so refreshing to see as a woman of colour! Other houses are encouraged to be cast diversely too, and most of the characters people have right now are part of the queer community in some way.
The staff have been very helpful in answering people's questions and helping them get started. I've seen multiple staff members go out of their way to provide character suggestions for established characters, oc ideas and more. if an idea doesn't work, the staff tell you this constructively and politely. They give bold ideas chances to be fleshed out even if they are unsure at first.
the plot is canon-divergent, but not lore-breaking. If you want freedom to get to do a lot of what you want within asoiaf while the world is still grounded. The history of the universe up until the reign of Jaehaerys is the same, so the rich worldbuilding from canon is still present. it's just expanded upon in its own unique way, and I love how the lore reads like it's its own page straight out of fire and blood.
Wars, hunts and other events seem decently planned out. There is a lot of grace from staff on the activity of the community, where they never seem to demand anyone be active. They do a general check of things to make sure roles fairly open up and that characterless members aren't forever lurking. Extensions on claims are always available. Inquiries are answered in a timely manner. The template is detailed and allows you to flesh out your character.
the community is fun. They're always sharing their art and headcanons. People are very passionate about their characters, and everyone is allowed to have a big plan or to for how their character arc wants to go.
If you're looking for a server that has a very laid back staff team and will allow you to make your own twists on canons and your own ocs, this is the place for you. I can't praise it enough.
