"Long ago… long before the age of the mammals, the age of the dinosaurs, or even terrestrial life, seven elemental stones began to form, absorbing the soul of every life form that died. As time drew on, more and more souls were pulled into the stones, ranging from massive flying reptiles, to titanic beasts of the land to the giants of the sea. Every soul was carefully sorted by the central stone, with creatures of different classifications finding themselves in different elemental attributes. Though, a few select species were held back, too desirable for the center stone to dole out to the other six. These animals were… different.

The first seven stone holders manifested during the Medieval age during the Crusades. The men briefly wielded the elements’ power, but this power came at a heavy cost. When ten minutes had passed, each of the men lay dead. Due to this, the stones were sealed away in a crypt, where they would remain untouched for centuries.

Twelve years before the events of the story, the stones were rediscovered, having been tucked away in the British Museum’s storage area. The first of the scientists to actually research them began to realize just how ancient these stones were. The stones were then relocated to a room full of fossils, which led to an interesting reaction"
