It is currently 2000 and the war with Voldemort ended two years ago.

After having been acquitted due to the endorsement of Harry Potter to get him a lesser sentence, Draco Malfoy procured a broken time turner in an old junk shop and decided to try and fix it up.

Draco used the time turner to take him back in time, before Voldemort had risen to power, defeating him before he could ever have a chance to harm others. However, meddling with time is dangerous. Time warped and Draco was sent straight back to 2000, where a war had never happened, but the memories of it plagued those who had survived it. Even more strange was those who were previously dead were now very much alive and roaming the earth as if the war had never happened.

In this new timeline, Headmistress McGonagall decided to open up a continuing education school for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where students after graduating in their 7th year could attend Hogwarts College of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The College was designed to help those regardless of who had taken their N.E.W.T.S learn different skills and trades to be successful in the wizarding world with plenty of occupations to choose from.
