Pacific Rim: Fallen World
After the events of Pacific Rim: The Black, global defense collapsed under renewed Kaiju incursions. In response, the PPDC enacted THE BLACK PROTOCOL, a full strategic withdrawal that severed communications, abandoned failed cities, and shut down or sealed every Shatterdome still operational.
The protocol never ended.
Most of the world is now classified as Dead Zones. Power grids failed, satellites fell silent, and known population centers went dark. Survivors exist in isolation, but organized resistance has all but vanished.
Seoul did not fall.
Through concentrated defenses, partial containment fields, and the convergence of remaining PPDC assets, the Seoul Shatterdome endured. It is now the last confirmed active Shatterdome on Earth and the only remaining command hub capable of deploying Jaegers.
The city above is fractured. entire districts lost to Kaiju attacks or sealed during evacuations, but beneath it, the Shatterdome continues limited operations. Jaegers are no longer mass produced; most units are rebuilt from salvaged frames, experimental cores, or partially autonomous systems left behind during the Black.
Kaiju behavior has changed. Breaches are irregular. Some specimens display adaptive mutations beyond previous classifications. Longrange reconnaissance beyond the Korean Peninsula is impossible, and no confirmation exists of other surviving Shatterdomes.
The PPDC still operates from Seoul, though its structure is diminished. Rank is flexible, resources are scarce, and survival overrides protocol. Every deployment risks being the last.
Seoul stands as humanity’s final stronghold not to win the war, but to keep it from ending.
We are humanity’s last hope.
