Ruby Gillman just wants to live a normal teenage life, but her overprotective, super-mom Agatha strictly forbids her from ever going into the ocean. When Ruby accidentally breaks this rule to save her crush from drowning, she transforms into a giant kraken. She learns that she is a direct descendant of the warrior Kraken queens and is destined to inherit the throne from her grandmother, the Warrior Queen of the Seven Seas. To make matters worse, she also faces off against Chelsea Van Der Zee, the popular new girl at school who turns out to be a mermaid.
