The Nation-states of Staggarath have come to know three things; Magic is Vile, The Night is Dark, Nobility is True.

Before this age where the Night is Dark and full of monsters, the Church of Ignis and the Crown of Staggarath decreed practitioners of Heathen Magic be put to death. It was 150 years ago when the night went dark save for the lonesome moon, and the Church's Faith and Divine Light could no longer fend off the monsters in the dark. The Nobility of the land, for their own purposes, suggested they take up the Practition of Magic. With reluctance, Crimson Sigil Academy was formed to help defend the Nation from the Night.

The Church still loathes Magic, the Night is starting to become more dangerous, and the Nobility have become restless in pursuit of power. Will you stand with the True Faith of the Church or Heathen Practices? Will you bend the knee to the hierarchy of this institution you've been conscripted to or will you alter the course of history?

ever since the 1800’s where voodoo queen marie laveau helped shape and preserve the magical culture of new orleans, it’s been a thriving hub of diversity. african spiritual practices mixed with catholicism brought upon a unique way of life. people accepted the voodoo than ran through the streets, treated it as another jazz band on the corner of bourbon street. even the countless spirits of the city walk freely among the present citizens there; a cold wisp of air brushing over a shoulder. but it’s nothing unordinary there.

now, more people reside there to practice their own magic. even have accumulated vampires after the ‘casket girl’ incidents in 1702. but one major standout (to the voodoo community, atleast.) is that the witchcraft community has established hidden covens there. and here? voodoo and witches don’t mix. marie laveau was greatly betrayed by them back during her time in new orleans, and the community has never forgiven the witches ever since despite great growth.

the main coven, disguised as an academy for young women, is named miss robichaux’s academy for exceptional young ladies. the school is ancient in itself— having been used as a sacred home and hiding space for witches, but now it’s been moved to louisiana.

and the vodouists aren’t happy. they’re determined to wipe out the already dwindling salem descendants population. for marie laveau.

Over half a millennia prior, multiple world-ending disasters struck simultaneously. The planet stopped spinning, remaining tidally locked to this day. Countless monsters ravaged the lands, annihilating everything they can. Entire oceans have changed, one filled with cursed blood, another filled with toxic waste. All sentient life was pushed to the brink of extinction, yet against all odds, they survived.

The current year is 411 A.D., After Disasters. Mankind has rebuilt. These lands are populated by species of all kinds, from Humans, Elves, Dwarves, to Angels and Demons, to various Beastfolk and Undead. Technology diversely differs depending on whether you're in the Dayside or Nightside on this unturning earth, ranging from spears and spells all the way up to futuristic firearms and cybernetics. Conflicts persist to this very day as more disasters quietly approach, unnoticed.
