in 129 ac, the realm was uneasy. king viserys i was sick and growing weaker by the day. his body failed him, but his mind was set on one goal: keeping his family at peace. he feared that once he was gone, his house would tear itself apart—and with it, the realm.

to keep his heir close, viserys called princess rhaenyra back to king’s landing from dragonstone. for years, queen alicent and her allies, the greens, had ruled the court. now the blacks, rhaenyra’s faction, returned in full strength. her children, her husband, and their supporters filled the red keep with a show of power the queen had not seen in years.

there were talks that viserys might replace his hand, ser otto hightower, with rhaenyra herself. to some, this was long overdue. to others, it was an insult too great for the hightowers to accept.

the court quickly split in two. the greens pushed back with smiles, sly words, and secret dealings. the blacks stood tall, proud of the power they still held. feasts became tense, small slights turned into open challenges, and even silence carried weight.

no blood has been spilled yet, but everyone feels it is only a matter of time. the king is slowly dying, and when he finally passes, nothing can stop the war to come unless arrangements are made. the dance of the dragons has not started, but its shadow already darkens the red keep.
