The server has some knowledgeable people who answer questions, but is otherwise not terribly active.
Now I ain’t no genius, but I joined this server thinkin’ it’d be full of folks who actually talked about Assembly. You know — registers, opcodes, bit-twiddlin’, that good ol’ bare-metal stuff. Instead, what I found was a bunch of self-proclaimed “experts” arguin’ about Python, Rust, or whatever’s trendy this week. Ain’t nobody talkin’ about Assembly. Hell, half of ‘em probably can’t even spell “mov eax, ebx.”
First impressions
When I first got in, I asked a simple, honest question — somethin’ like “anybody got tips for optimizing loops in x86?” Real basic stuff. And what do I get?
“Oh bro, you should learn C instead.”
“Why waste time with Assembly in 2025?”
Like, damn, I didn’t come here for a career lecture, I came here to talk Assembly! The few folks who did answer were decent, bless ‘em, but the rest? They act like it’s a crime to be interested in low-level programming.
The crowd in there
Man, this place is a zoo. You got your “special” types — those real awkward, high-ego fellas who think they’re gods ‘cause they can quote the Intel manual. Then there’s the hipsters talkin’ about Rust like it’s the second coming of Christ. And don’t even get me started on the ones who sit in there all day droppin’ smug comments like “Actually, Assembly is obsolete” — then proceed to argue about JavaScript for two hours straight.
It’s like goin’ to a barbecue and everyone’s talkin’ about vegan recipes.
The vibe
There’s always a weird tension in the air. Folks act like they’re in some elite club, but they sure don’t act like a community. Ask a question and they’ll flex their vocabulary instead of helpin’. They use “well, technically…” like it’s punctuation. It’s a whole lotta show, not a whole lotta substance.
And the mods? Lord, don’t expect them to clean it up. They’ll say it’s “a chill space for open discussion,” but what that really means is they let every pedantic, socially-awkward loudmouth run wild while the actual learners get ignored.
Why it’s a damn shame
It’s called an Assembly server, but 90% of the talk’s about other languages.
Ask a technical question and they’ll mock ya or go off on tangents.
The regulars act like geniuses, but most of ‘em never wrote a bootloader in their lives.
Mods play favorites, pretend they’re “mentoring” folks, but they just join in on the circle-jerk.
The rare people who do know Assembly don’t stick around long — probably ‘cause the noise is unbearable.
Conclusion
This place could’ve been great. It could’ve been a real home for folks who love Assembly — folks who like understandin’ the machine, not just slappin’ frameworks on top of frameworks. But instead, it’s turned into a tech version of a dive bar where everyone argues, nobody listens, and the jukebox’s been playin’ the same song since 2019.
So yeah, if you’re lookin’ to actually learn Assembly, do yourself a favor: go find an old forum, a GitHub repo, or watch some videos from the folks who still care about this craft. Don’t waste your time here.
And to the folks runnin’ that server — with all due respect — y’all can rot, for callin’ it an Assembly community when all you do is talk circles around it.
Ain’t nothin’ low-level about a bunch of high-nosed know-nothin’s.

This is obviously an AI-generated rant. As far as I can tell, the conversations depicted here never happened, and this is not an accurate characterization of the server (if only because there are not enough active people to fill in all the roles described).
