Where Land Meets Sea

Some of the lore:

The creatures of the sea have been around for a long, long time. Ruling over the oceans. Living their life just like you would on land. Having families, homes, pets, schools, myths and legends as well as their own histories.

The differences between the creatures of the sea and the land walkers were simple. The sea beings, also known as the Mers; Had gills, fins, tails. Their upper half that of a human, their lower halves that of fish. They varied in different types, shapes and colors. Some were carnivores and some where not. Some had special abilities and some did not. The Mers also had mating seasons and migrations. Again, not all, but most.

The land walkers also had strange abilities. Some could do magic, but they had to learn it, it wasn't natural like it was for the Mers. Not all humans were aware of the existence of the Mers. The beings of the sea want it that way. They have been hunted and studied, kept captive and experimented on over the years before they disappeared for a couple hundred years.

Then you had the Pirates, the humans that knew that these beings still lived and were thriving under the waters. Always on the look out for them when they sailed the seven seas. Some of the Mers developed what they call, "The Song of the Sea" Or "Sailor Song". More commonly known as; "The call of the Siren". That lured sailors to their watery deaths.
