Difaa’ e Deoband

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The best of people are my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them.”

And he ﷺ said:
“Do not insult my companions, do not insult my companions. By the One in whose Hand is my soul, if one of you were to spend gold equal to Mount Uhud, it would not equal even a handful or half a handful of what they spent.”

And he ﷺ said:
“Indeed, Allah does not take away knowledge by removing it from the people, but He takes away knowledge by taking the scholars, until when no scholar remains, people will take ignorant ones as leaders. They will be asked, and they will give verdicts without knowledge, thus they will go astray and lead others astray.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“There will come upon my Ummah what came upon the Children of Israel, step by step… and indeed the Children of Israel split into 72 sects, and my Ummah will split into 73 sects—all of them in the Fire except one.”
They asked: “Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?”
He ﷺ said: “That which I and my companions are upon.”
