Great Movie Server If You Don't Actually Care About Anything

Server started being less fun when the guy running it started using it to promote his youtube channel where he talks about "film history" with some of the worst production values ever. I joined because I knew next to nothing about film and the server advertises itself as a good place for "beginner cinephiles" but moderator team seems focused on a small group of films. Daily activities started becoming pushed less, which made it obvious that the owner is only using it to fake activity and engagement and now that there's an active group there he can push his bad youtube vids. There aren't even a lot "Consistent themed movie streams with deep cuts & essentials" like they advertise. And their "Young Cinephiles Club & Essentials Lists" is mostly focused on directors and actors instead of things that actually teach anyone about film and the movies that were important to developing it. I learned more from going to a local arthouse theatre and film club only twice than I did hanging out with the people in this server. It seems like they're only good for a small handful of recommendations from a small handful of dudes there and letting some "politics" slide while other "politics" are against the rules there. If you're a nazi or a pedo you can get away with as many dogwhistles as you want because the top dudes there are super weird towards younger members and gay people. Moderators need to do a better job of enforcing that "no politics" rule.
