Cyberscum: Chrome & Dust

Peacetown, USA: a town that had only really established itself just before the Crash of '94, it would come to be one of the exceedingly few parts of the US that would benefit from the Collapse. Between gang wars, martial law, the death of many agricultural zones, economic collapse, natural disasters, and pointless wars, much of the American population would turn to the Nomad lifestyle, traveling across the United States, and by coincidence and providence in equal measure, Peacetown would become one of many Nomad hubs across the south-western United States. It would prove to be a new-age boomtown, developing independent non-corporate industry and logistical networks in the gold rush that was scavenging from ghost towns and reconstruction contracts for cities that had lost everything.

Like every gold rush, though, there were prospectors, and the rush came to an end. As the Long Walk returned to the United States and the construction of Mexico City was completed, most of the profitable Nomad work in the Southwest came to an end, and when several Clans pulled roots to chase better work, the corporations came right in behind them. Nomad-constructed buildings defaulted or were abandoned, and the government, lacking in any money now, was forced to sell out to numerous megacorps looking to expand their reach in the Southwestern United States. Over the course of a long decade, it fought a push-and-pull between the remaining nomads and their static friends and the increasingly corporate downtown and government of Peacetown.

Now, in the year 2020, Peacetown has one foot in two worlds: corporate and nomad, with the increasingly populated core of the city under the thumb of the megacorps, the outer rungs primarily in the hands of gangs, and the outlands controlled by roving packs of nomads.
