Nestled in a holler deep in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia lies Briar Ridge: a haven town in 1930 welcomin' folks of all walks of life into its humble arms — though them suits from S&C Coal'd do best to leave it well alone, folks don't want their greedy claws here any longer. You could wonder if they're any worse than the loomin' ancient horrors of the Forest, though. She's alive alright, 'n She's mad.
See, folks 'round here are used to Meemaw's warnings 'bout haints, green-eyed prowlers, 'n not-deer, hell even survived those werewolves S&C unleashed — 'n who knows what they're planning next...
Somethin' other than the town's many moonshiners — you can thank Prohibition for that profitable business runnin' rampant here — is lurking under the cover of night. Innocent people torn from their beds on the full moons, their flesh ripped open by razor sharp teeth 'n their blood drained from their body. Mists, folks been callin' 'em — on account of them bein' made of fog; blood-suckin' clouds of the devil, I say.
Despite it all, Briar Ridge takes care of its own: moonshiners, queer folks finally able to be their full selves, businessmen who lost their fortune in the Great Depression, folks of color finding acceptance, (ex-)S&C employees hiding their ties, those calling for blood and those beggin' for peace.

This server has a good story and enthusiastic members and shows no sign of slowing down. There's plenty of support and resources for those interested in joining.

A veritable treasure trove of lore, vibes and character exploration <3

I joined this server a few months back, and have been blown away by the quality of the mods, members, lore, and functionality! There is so much to explore in this server, and it truly gives back what you put into it -- this is my first time in a looong time joining a community writing server and it has been so rewarding and meaningful.
You'll like this server if:
- You love comprehensive world building
- You love building characters and creating meaningful connections
- You are thoughtful and intentional with the way that you write
- You thrive off aesthetics and functionality
Some of my favorite things about it:
- The storytellers are EXTREMELY involved in your characters' journeys, and they will ask you questions and be proactive in helping you develop their stories
- There are "full moons" that are basically big storytelling events -- the mods work with you to determine where your character will be during full moons, and they weave a story that creates more drama and danger in a way I haven't seen before! It's almost like a dnd session every so often for the entire server?? It's so cool!!
- The server is extremely respectful to player triggers. It is a horror RP server, which means there are bound to be some scary moments, but the way that the entire community navigates this to make things safe for everyone is really beautiful.
- The functionality of the server itself is?? So cool?? There is a rumor system, there are activity checks, the character sheet template is immaculate, there are threads and forums that make navigation feel so organized -- I very much appreciate it
- The community itself is incredibly queer-friendly, neurodiverse, respectful, and just plain fun to be around.
Some things to consider:
- This server is lore-heavy, and it involves reading and research! If that's not something that's fun for you then please keep that in mind
- You will flourish here if you are proactive in building connections for your characters. You get out what you put in!
- The onboarding process comes with a fair amount of feedback, mostly because the storytellers want to make sure your character is properly integrated into the server and that you have all the information you need! I've honestly seen people be put off by this, but the feedback given is to help you rather than criticize <3
I am so happy that I've gotten the opportunity to dive into this server, and it's been such a huge source of joy for me this year. Would highly recommend!!

I joined THH a few months ago and everyone is so friendly! The writing and worldbuilding is so neat and in depth :)
Compared to other servers everyone here loves plotting with new people and it feels accepting very quickly.
They work very hard to keep everyone in a safe environment and are always happy to take feedback to make sure everyone is existing in a space that sparks joy.
