Emberland

Emberland is a name which gained fame, recently, in international politics and in analyst circles. It has been called numerous times the “unluckiest nation in the world” by the foreign press, and that labeling isn’t far from the truth. After 30 years of bloody Communist rule which saw the Great Famine destroy much of the rural side of the country, a coalition of conservatives, liberals and progressivists rose up across Emberland, beginning the Emberlandish Civil War. The 10 year long conflict left the country ravaged and depleted, its once sprawling urban areas left traumatised and devastated.

The provisional government which came after the dramatic fall of the Communists promised reform, prosperity and justice for all yet those slogans came in short. The Newly Elected Conservative Calinescu government that came to power during the first elections of Emberland attempted to reform the wretched system and recover the crashed economy, that came to be in the aftermath of the revolution. The early days of the new Ministry seemed promising, yet the Provisional Government stacked the House of Peers with its supporters, preventing any major reform.

And so the legislature came to a gridlock, not being able to pass or reject reforms causing a period of stagnation without any reforms. The people did not sit idly by however, as instability soon arose. The former members of the Provisional Government had to bend the knee to the will of the masses, agreeing to a new constitutional convention of Emberland which introduced a compromise for both them and the conservatives.
And so begins a new epoch for Emberland as the Conservatives and Socialists merge together and change their tactics as they seem to clash once more.
